Why support EVs?

The Good

Supporting EVs helps your business
Electric vehicle (EVs for short) are quickly becoming popular and getting cheaper.
In 2015 there were fewer than 1,000 EVs registered in NZ, by 2020 there were more than 20,000.
EV owners are an awesome group of people tend to be eco-conscious, socially aware customers who enjoy buying local and supporting NZ made. Plus, charging typically takes 20-30 minutes, which is time that can be filled with delicious, fun and interesting new experiences.
If you are a local business who is looking to support positive action on climate change,

The Bad

No more oil
You know the story. Climate crisis. We need to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees or bad stuff happens.
The more electric cars we drive, the less petrol we burn and the less oil we need to dig up.
During the Covid-19 lockdown New Zealand’s emissions dropped by over 40% because we stopped driving our cars. By switching to electric transportation we can have cleaner air and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The Ugly

Car exhaust
Land transport (like cars, buses etc.) in New Zealand uses around over 30 billion barrels of oil each year. In 2019 that resulted in about 2.5 billion litres of fuel being burned, which went straight into our atmosphere (yuck!).
Using home-grown electricity to power our vehicles could create more independence from fossil fuels and reducing the amount of money that we indirectly contribute towards oil companies, wars and air pollution.
